Friday, December 23, 2005 - Merry christmas all
Just a note to say I hope all of you guys and gals have a great christmas with your family and friends!
Every year I say it, but next year I am going to do it for sure. What is "It?" It is.............get my christmas shopping done early, and make use of as much online purchases as I can.
I had about 5 things I had to buy today, in 4 different stores, and it ended up taking me around 6 hours, with traffic, lines, searching stores for chrap etc.
It is freaking nuts out there, and the fact that 99% of people are self centered assholes, or just don't give a fuck, don't make it any easier.
Anyway, lol, have a good one guys, and here is to a profitable new year for all!

Wednesday, December 7, 2005 - Spam sucks, don't you agree?
I freakin' hate spam, in all it's forms.
But, why do people spam? Because it works for them. I don't mind internet spam, spam pages, etc, and shit that people do to try to make a few bucks for themselves. What I do hate is adult webmasters spamming other adult webmasters via forums.
This annoys the hell out of me, and is usually an indication to me that they are struggling to make ends meet. Case in point. I host with cyberwurx (wanna sign up use my ref mwcelentano.....lol).....they are sponsors of netpond, so banners fly, etc.........but, you never see them on the boards spamming their shit, and begging people to join up with them like you do many other companies that aren't even netpond sponsors. They are rock solid, and don't seem desperate for my business like tons of others. Desperate businesses make me uneasy.
Also, I am not retarded, nor is many of my other webmaster pals. If you put up a thread and try to disguise it as non spam, when it is quite obviously spam, I think even less of you. Not only are you a damn spammer, but on top of it, you think that I am too stupid to know what you are doing.
I dunno, I guess I was just raised to work hard, and be as honest as possible, and not beg for anything. There are better ways to make a buck than with a tin cup in your hand.

http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/showthread.php?t=44995
I came across this thread a bit earlier, and thought I would share it with you guys.
It got me really thinking about how high, and how hard, I should be pushing myself in this biz. Hopefully it will do the same for all of you :)

Monday, November 21, 2005 - Blogs
Back when I first read the thomas byers
blog thread over at netpond........this was sometime in april, I got
excited and created myself 100 foot fetish blogs. Posted once in each,
then never touched them again. Recently I have been seeing some of them
pop up in my stats, so I decided to have a look at them.
So far, it looks like only msn likes them, but is sending an insane
number of hits. One blog I am on the second page for that search term,
and got 88 hits for the keyword I was targeting just today. The one and
only post was maybe 40 words long, if that. Something is very off in
how search engines bring in traffic from blogs.
I just wonder how long it is before they change things up so that they are more even for all types of sites.
I have decided to bring these out of retirement and spent a couple
hours today putting in longer posts on these blogs, and seeing what I
can do with them. They are all just throw aways, not really splogs
though, because all the posts I put up have at least some effort put
into them to appear a bit less splog-like.
I'm going to dick around with them for a month or so, and see what kind
of traffic they can bring in for me. I mean if a one post 7 months ago
is bringing in 88 SE hits just today, it could be something to look
into.
This will mostly be to just increase my bottom line so that I have that
extra income to put back into more domains, adwords, and other forms of
advertising, partner accounts, etc. I don't really want to get stuck
too deep into this. Maybe a handfull of blogs that I will keep going
eventually though, just to have control of a certain level of traffic
in a particular niche.
The christmas season is coming up, lots of new people getting
computers, I really gotta try to blanket bomb my pages out there to
increase the number of SE hits I can get coming in, cause these guys
want some porn, maybe I can snag a few sales off of em before their
buddies teach them how to get shit for free.

Friday, November 18, 2005 - family reunion
we are having a family reunion type thing
this weekend, and I got bamboozled into letting a couple out of town
family members stay at my place for the past couple of days, so it has
grinded most of my adult activity to a halt, not to mention screwed up
my sanity.
Anyone I got link trades, etc going with, gimme a day or two leeway,
just a heads up, cause I probably won't be getting to it until saturday
morning possibly, or sunday morning for sure
Thanks for the patience.
Why they are having the reunion a week before thanksgiving, and not
just on thanksgiving, is beyond me. One thing is for sure, if these
people decide to stay till turkey day, there is a nice la quinta motel
a couple blocks away :)

Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - netpond show today.
I got a chance to be on the netpond show
today with the great sleazy bear. Is the second time I have been on,
but this time I knew about it ahead of time so I could prepare a couple
of questions, lol.
I tried to ask a few things that would help out not only myself, but
maybe some people newer than me that didn't know where to go. Hopefully
I accomplished that :)
Thanks go out to sleazybear for always being there to host these bad
boys. I look forward to netpond shows all week long, and it gives me a
nice break midweek that I don't have to feel guilty about because I am
learning new nuggets of info all the time :)

Tuesday, November 15, 2005 - Search engine traffic.
Here is an update on some of my sites in the SE project that was run in Beta Brigade.
I just racked up my third sale yesterday. I started going through and
running some numbers based on my stats, and my sponsor stats, to see
how things are going.
So far it is pretty insane. I am still getting minimal hits to most
sites (which is normal as it was said everything before the 6 month
mark is just gravy) but here is the shocker. My click through rates are
insane. Percentage wise I am sending so many more hits to the sponsor
than on any other kind of traffic I have went after. This was kind of
surprising to me because by design these sites aren't using real "in
your face" types of advertising methods. A banner here and there, and
some text links talking up the sponsor, etc.
On one site, in one months time, I have sent more to sponsor than a tgp
gallery easily (not factoring in partner accts, or a hun listing). The
thing is, at the end of the month, that gallery is going to pretty much
dry up, but the SE page is going to keep getting hits as long as I keep
paying for the domain.
I can totally see how a stable of similar sites could bring in some
good long term income. I eagerly anticipate the 6 month and 1 year
mark, to see what kind of daily SE hits I can be pulling in.
Now, I just gotta start churning em out by the basketfull
So, guys, make sure your SE pimp hand is strong!

Tuesday, November 15, 2005 - Lb's project
LB's project is being kept up to date at his blog, without all the extra posts, etc.
Make sure you guys keep an eye on what is going on there. By the looks
of the first galleries and freesites they are clean, and use simple
graphics. In other words, they aren't anything that you guys can't do
on your own with a bit of effort. I think this is really going to show
what can be done with steady, and consistant, work in this biz.
Keep an eye on it for some upcoming stats, etc.

Sunday, November 13, 2005 - L.A. galaxy wins mls cup
Can't believe that New England lost to L.A.
also that San Jose lost to them as well. I really think they need to
rethink the aggregate system for the playoffs. 2 games really isn't
enough to make it fair to any team, oh well, no crying over spilled
milk.
Anyone that hasn't seen dwayne de rosarios insane, gravity defying,
goal against them that won goal of the year needs to hit up this link
http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/news/mls_events_news.jsp?ymd=20051109&content_id=47846&vkey=mlscup2005&fext=.jsp
and download that shit. Even if you aren't a soccer fan, download that shit, amaze yourself, and impress the neighborhood kids.

Saturday, November 12, 2005 - Porn sites with content.
I have been watching some posts lately, and
reading some posts in the netpond show chatroom, and some stuff said on
the air, and I have began to reevaluate the "content" sites.
I have never put much effort towards doing anything like this before
though. I have always made throwaway sites made to get the user to the
sponsors page and get me a signup. I was never really concerned with
bookmarkers.
I am thinking that I may try my hand at running a few sites designed to
pick up bookmarkers. I'm not talking about a tgp site though, those are
way overdone, maybe an expanded portal type of niche site.
The problem is that I never really found any sites on the net for porn
that I ever went back to, except maybe a forum or two. I was always
more into video so I hit up rental shops, etc.....only started porn
surfing on the net once I found tgp's, and picked up a few memberships.
So, I am not really sure how to pick up a bookmark friendly site
without just throwing tons of free content at the surfer..........and
that isn't really the way I want to go about things.
It would be nice to have a few high traffic sites in my stable that I
could market to loyal surfers and see how things go. A bit of trial and
error may be in store though.

Friday, November 4, 2005 - Fun and games.
Ok, I love video games, but anymore I just
don't have much time to play them. Couple that with the fact that when
I do get a chance, usually not much holds my interest anymore. Anyway,
I picked up "Stubbs the zombie" for the xbox recently because it looked
like an interesting concept. This game is really nice. It kicks ass big
time. It is a bit short, to people that are use to 50 hours gameplay a
game or so, but it held my interest the entire time. I may even go back
and play it on Insane mode, or whatever.
You are a zombie that goes around, you eat peoples brains, and when you
do so they become zombies and you can kinda tell them what to do to
wreak more havok. Later on you can throw your hand, and run around like
thing from adams family, and if you jump on peoples heads, you can
control their brains, this lets you have guys with guns and rocket
launchers etc, that you wouldn't normally have access to as stubbs. It
also has a pretty witty storyline, all in all a great game, and is the
first one I have beat since advance wars 2 (note to self, still gotta
get a nintendo DS and AW3)
Other than that I mostly stick to winning eleven (pes the rest of the
world).........though I do find it odd that pro evolution soccer is the
worldwide name, but when it comes out in the united states they changed
the name to winning eleven........seems kinda backward, but I digress.
With this game I can go sit down play a 30 minute game then get back to
my regular daily schedule, etc, something that is very hard with most
games out now that require hours of your time.
I loved city of heroes, and couldn't wait for city of villains, but I
am not going to even purchase it......because I know that if I do, then
my productivity goes to ZERO for a while.

Friday, November 4, 2005 - Cancer - the yin and yang of things.
For the past few months I have been losing
my grandmother to cancer. Right now she is at the point where they
can't really do anything for her, and it is a pretty much wait until
she passes on kind of thing. She is getting very bad now, and my mother
is taking care of her, and it is a full time job for her. My
grandmother helped raise me when my mom had to work as a kid, and there
is probably nobody in this world that I have ever been closer to (well,
a close tie with my mother and my fiance). Every day playing this
waiting game kills me a little bit.
Now, last night I found out my birth father is also dying of cancer.
Now there is probably nobody in this world that I am less close to. My
parents got divorced when I was very young. He was a cop that got
injured, had to retire, and then turned to prescription drugs and booze
to pass the time away. My mom wasn't having it, so she finally left and
got me out of there. He was also going through trouble because of his
time in vietnam. The one small period in my life where I wanted to get
to know him, when I was about 7 years old, we would do fun things, like
look at his drawer full of pics of "gook" heads up on wooden pikes that
they took. Good times. They (him and his parents) would always try to
take me out to buy toys and shit when I was over, because they were the
"buy your love" kind of people. Then one time he talks to my mom on the
phone and says they think I am going over there because I want them to
buy them shit. I said fuck all that noise, and they could eat a
dick.......so I never went over again. The only time I contacted them
ever again was when I went to college, because they had been putting
money in an account for me supposedly as part of my child support
(outside the court)........but when the time came they said they had
spent it long ago, and pretty much to fuck off. The only thing I
ever really got from them was $124 a month in child support, premature
baldness, and low self esteem as a kid.
Anyway, I couldn't wait for all of them to die. His father died of the
ass cancer, not sure what he has got. I could really care less, as long
as it is painfull, and his life is over soon so I can piss on the grave.
My only real fear now is that I may get whatever gene they have passed
on to me, and it worries me to have children in case it would get
passed on to them. I may down a six pack and enjoy a grin at my fathers
passing...............but in the end, if I get picked off by one of his
genes...........who really gets the last laugh?

Tuesday, November 1, 2005 - Webmaster boards, and you.
I love to have fun on the boards, joke
around, and poke fun at people as much as the next guy. But I also try
to balance that with giving advice that I hope is helpful, and trying
to keep on topic for business related type threads. Lately on
the pond there has been a whole lot of stirring of people that are mad
at the lack of business threads. Here is the way to get back to that.
Stop posting stupid shit. A joke is fine in moderation.........starting
a whole other conversation not related to the topic just to cover some
stuff with another webmaster that was better left to ICQ, is not. If
only ICQ paid 5 cents to post.................. Not to pick on
Scream, because I like the guy. I have had many conversations with him
on ICQ and find him to be an intelligent, and helpful, guy to deal
with. Case in point though, he started out as post whoring, and now
that has become what many people associate him with. Now he has started
making galleries, and doing business, etc...........but people will
still take jabs at him about post whoring, and I have seen him get
pissed off about it. Again, not to pick on him, is just an example.
Remember people in this business have long memories (not to mention the
search function can bring back quite a few nuggets about your
character) and you have to see where your place in this biz is, and how
you want people to perceive you. I mean I say off the wall stuff, wacky
stuff, am sarcastic, etc......but at the same time I think that if I
keep things too straight to business that would be leaving a whole
chunk of my personality out of things........then people would
like/dislike me based on false pretenses. It is cool to have
fun on the board, hell there are hundreds of threads a week that are
dedicated to such thought provoking things as "'which is your favorite
titty, the left, or right - vote inside!"............but please, when
you see a thread that is going good, and some serious discussion is
taking place. Don't fuck it up. Remember the kid at the beach when you
were a kid that spent hours making a sand castle, only to have some
asshole come up and kick it down?...........Don't be the asshole.

Sunday, October 30, 2005 - Don't do this!
I was watching this show a while back. I
don't remember what it was, but it gave me one of those moments where
all of the sudden everything comes into perspective.
They ware talking about how the rich and the poor react to things
differently. As far as the stock market goes a good stock all of the
sudden drops to a very low price. The rich person stocks up more
because the price is great, the poor person freaks out and tries to
keep whatever money they have left, and sell it all.
The rich buy low and sell high........the poor buy high and sell low. Makes no sense right?
I got to thinking about how this applies to me. I don't play the stock
market at this time, but I noticed that the same type of mentality
applies at times.
A couple days go by when I have no, or low, sales............I start to
freak out, and go on a building rampage, getting everything I can
possibly get done in a day done.
Then all of the sudden bam, I get 3-4 days of great sales, my
adrenaline goes down, I calm a bit...............and my building slows
down. I find myself reading more on the boards, the sense of urgency
isn't there, I do what has to be done, but not over and above. Again,
makes no sense right?
Any of you find yourself doing the same thing? Sometimes it happens
without really noticing. Over the past few weeks I have been really
paying attention to what I am getting done in a day, even going so far
as to keep a notebook by my side (yes, I am old fashioned..........I
like my notes on paper :) ) just to keep track of what I am doing, and
making sure I am staying on track.
It is very important to think more longterm than your next steak
dinner, or night out with the boys. Be the Genghis Khan of
porn.........not the Ogodei

Saturday, October 29, 2005 - haven't updated in a bit.
Turned out a no guilty verdict on my
cousins trial. Am feeling back 100% in the health department. Time for
me to get back slamming out the work!
Got a notebook full of ideas, just gotta translate them into finished product now.
The SE project is going great, I have already made a sale, and get
steady daily traffic to most of my sites........and many of them
turning into clicks to my sponsors, so that is a good thing.
I think I could churn out these SE pages forever without boredom. It
isn't like tgp that starts to drain on you a while, I can make the page
about whatever the hell I want.
I truly hope that all of the pople involved within the project, that
did the work, benefit from what they had a chance to take a part
in.......and that they use this experience to further their efforts in
the future.
Ok, now back to work...........I also gotta start keeping my ICQ off more often like I use to :)

Friday, October 21, 2005 - Glad today is over
I had to testify at my cousing trial today.
I had been dreading this day for a long time. I am not comfortable in
court rooms, and places with people that hold authority like that. I
don't know why. He punched another guy which should have just been a
cut and dry case, but the DA kept pushing for it to be a felony.
He punched him once, and it broke his jaw in two places, so they said
because there was a lot of damage it should be a felony. I won't go
into it right now, but the guy oh so deserved what he got. I am just
sad for my cousin. They finally got it dropped to a misdemeanor, so it
shouldn't be that bad, but he could still get some punishment for it.
Still felt kind of like shit today. Much better than I had been doing,
so that is good. All of this has really got me emotionally drained
though, and the slowdown on getting work done over the past week has me
a bit down.
I think I am going to just take tomorrow off and go out to monterey bay
aquarium and get my mind off of things. Haven't been there in years,
and my lady has never been, so. Maybe hit that up then go get a nice
crab dinner somewhere and stroll around some shops. Will be bringing my
camera though, so I can maybe pop up some kind of adsense site around
it.
Just really need to have a mental break so I can come back into things full force!

Monday, October 17, 2005 - Fuck you Hometown buffet.
Hometown buffet. I hate this place. I hate
this place even worse on weekends. I vowed never to go back, but ended
up being bamboozled into heading there because a friend from out of
town was around, and everyone was already meeting up there for dinner
before I could make my bitching about it known.
I drove up, aparently they have steak and shrimp now on the weekends.
Hell, I figured............even bad fried shrimp is still decent, and
I've had some horrible steaks in my life, but if they are at least
edible, I may have something to eat.
Boy, was I wrong.
The shrimp were fried, but the breading was flavorless and undercooked.
Now, on to the steak.........they must have thrown like 50 steaks all
in a pan and baked them, and let them cook in their own juices. They
were a pale gray, and looked like they were chopped off of E.T.s, the
extra terrestrials, ass. They were boiled, not grilled. So I tried some
brisket, the most dry thing I have ever had in my life.
I never got full, only sick to my stomach, so I went for
dessert..............hell, their dessert was pretty damn good, so I
can't complain.
Ok, why the fuck is it that people will go to a place with shit food
like this? NOBODY would pay for any of these items, which range from
foul to mediocre, on their own, but when you slam 50 shitty dishes
together and make it all you can eat, fat fucks line up around the
building! woo hoo!.
What was really sweet was about half way through my bread pudding I
started getting some wicked stomach cramps, and spent the next 20
minutes in their restroom grasping my stomach, and having some
montezuma revenge like bowel movements. Oh what a joy. Fuck you
hometown, fuck you up your fucking asses!

Friday, October 14, 2005 - Make use of your sponsors stat programs.
Everytime a gallery makes a sale for you, look where it came from.
Keep this info all in one handy place.
Url of the gallery.
What sponsor
What niche
What 3 recips were on the page
Do this for every new sale you get. Then once a month compile this info
together and see which sponsors, niches, templates, did the best for
you. Look over each one, what were some of the similarities of the
galleries? Look for something that made these different. Text, graphic
heavy, all softcore, etc........any observations that you can write
down into something concrete, do it.
Try to create future galleries using these methods. Also, if you start
to see a few select tgps that sales were coming from, start to dig
deeper there. Do they have partner passes? can you buy one? paid
spot.....maybe. Get more traffic from the places that stats have proven
likes your particular sales methods.

Wednesday, October 12, 2005 - Still not feeling great
Man, I've been sick for over a week now. It
is really starting to wear on me. I need to get myself some health
insurance, but it is rough as hell for the self employed.
Still getting a good chunk of my work done, at least the basics....so
that is good. May try to get into my doc tomorrow sometime, and see if
he will let me spread payments a bit, if it is over a few hundred.
Sucks, sucks, sucks.
anyway, hope there is a netpond show later today.........cause I look forward to those bad boys every week!
Anyone not attending, should get their butts in here, because there is
always great information...........lots of calling Scream gay, and good
times to be had by all! Usually some hitting on Krusty as
well........for those that are into such things.
