Sunday, January 15, 2006 - No longer updating

Due to time issues I will no longer be updating my blog.

If i could work out how to delete it then this message wouldn't be needed, but I cant :)

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - Day 6

Still no more sales, but I think its partly due to my server being very very slow for 3 days. Controlthy took a look at it for me and mentioned my maxclients was set far too low and even though it wasn't doing even 2% of max volume, it was limping like one legged centipede. Clicks and accepts have been lower than projected, but hopefully that picks up soon. I know that worldsex has quite a delay in their approvals for sites submitted .. up to a month or two after submit from memory, so not sure how I will report on that if this is only a month long tutorial.

Freesite :

(lets see how she does on LL traffic).

Almost completed my SE site skeleton ... it should be around 5 pages and the domain is doggingplanet.com. Will be looking for trades soon, and already have internal trades to guarantee a pr2+ on first update.

Started thinking about the portal. I might try a pantyhose portal and have a domain for it which I just got hosted.

No more sales. But a surprisingly low number of clicks.

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - Day 5 - Update

A quick summary of what I did on day 5 :

Galleries:
http://www.ziggymovies.com/i/gallery5/
http://www.ziggymovies.com/p/gallery5/

Freesite:
www.sexinsilk.com/pantyhose-dream-girl

I also spent far too much time fiddling with wordpress. Took me a while to get it installed, and still got some errors. So shelved the blog, and spent a little more time on the SE site. Also registered a domain for my upcoming portal site.

Still sitting at the one sale.

Saturday, November 19, 2005 - Day 4 - On track

No more sales. So still at only the one sale

galleries :
http://www.ziggymovies.com/p/gallery4/
http://www.ziggymovies.com/p/gallery4/

freesite :
http://www.ziggymovies.com/erotic-hardcore/

Oh and Krusty thought my freesites were terrible and she bet me she could make more sales than me with freesites, so she did that one up. For some reason her freesites tend to get a lot more SE traffic than mine too ....  Those of you who did the seo project in BB will probably realise why

... also ... I had a very hectic day in the office here today, and woke up very very late to boot, so didn't get any more work done on my SEO site and didn't look at starting the blog.

Thursday, November 17, 2005 - Day 3 - Goddamn server !

Many may have noticed that the server I was using farted for 3-4 hours yesterday.  So we held off on the submits.

The submits are instead being done today and as a preview they are ....

Freesite : http://www.ziggymovies.com/pregnant-hungry-horny/

Gallery 1 : http://www.ziggymovies.com/i/gallery3/

Gallery 2 : http://www.ziggymovies.com/p/gallery3/

The freesite was actually submitted correctly, but we didn't get the tgp submits off.  Also looks like greenguy is giving us some headaches with his script. We cant get any of the freesites past it.

Tuesday, November 15, 2005 - Updates and stats

Already burnt a couple of gig :)

I did realise that I made a mistake which will impact the first 2 netpondcash gallery stats. I haven't used a tracking code to track sales, and the only way I can work out where the sales came from is to look at the referrer logs.  All future galleries will have tracking codes, but I will need to manually work out the stats from the first 2 ... well not too hard to work out where the sale came from, but more of a ratio thing.

Cheaters uncovered - I am presently around 1:250 after 2 days.

Titanbucks sites (planetpreggo, riskyvoyeur) :

Raven Riley - Only just submitted so no clicks yet.

Funnily enough its the freesite traffic that is coming hard and fast, and the tgp traffic that is taking a while to wind up.  Strange.

Tuesday, November 15, 2005 - Day 2 - Update

Well day 2 was finished a while ago and I am presently working on today's galleries, freesite and SE site, but might aswell give an update on what I did day two.

2 galleries :

http://www.ziggymovies.com/i/gallery2/

http://www.ziggymovies.com/p/gallery2/

For one of the galleries (raven riley) it was a departure from what I normally do on a gallery. I have never been able to sell amateur too well, and I put that down to me trying to presell the girl too hard, or trying to add a twist.  I recently got told that I need to let the content sell itself, so in the gallery I have tried no tricks, and just left the surfer in no confusion as to what I am selling.  Lets see if the content can sell itself  :)

1 Freesite :

http://www.ziggymovies.com/pregnant-hungry-horny/

Today I also started on a SE geared site. The domain hasn't updated yet, so unfortunately I might need to wait till tomorrow's update to show you, but its already half finished.  It's a dogging SE site, and I will be looking for hard link trades soon.

Starting stats to follow, and I made my first sale already too!

Monday, November 14, 2005 - Day 1 - Summary

Day 1 Summary
===========================

First day of galleries is done, and the first freesite is out.

As you can see I have gone for a more minimal approach with advertising. Typically i would have much more advertising on all my sites, but I have noticed that it has finally gotten to the point where you just can't get away with that for free submits. Feels a little foreign submitting galleries with so little advertising but we will soon see if it works or not ;)

Gallery 1 :  http://www.ziggymovies.com/p/gallery1/

Gallery 2 :  http://www.ziggymovies.com/i/gallery1/

Freesite :  http://www.ziggymovies.com/mature-wife/

Oh ... and no sales yet :) :) :)

But I have had 12 clicks !

Friday, November 11, 2005 - And we're off

Today I started cropping thumbs, prepping content, getting some templates organised, did up a freesite, got a submitter lined up, and a few thousand other things.  In short ... we're off an racing :)

So hopefully tomorrow you should have your first update on what I did on day one.  Looking forward to it!

Monday, November 7, 2005 - Lets make some MORE money

Lets make some MORE money !

Many people will remember the tutorial where 30 days were spent creating 2 galleries and 1 freesite a day, submitting them, and results (BW usage, sales, clicks, traffic stats, examples) were thrown up for all to see.  For those who don’t remember or never saw it … the thread is  :  http://www.netpond.com/showthread.php?t=39452

The idea of this tutorial is not only 2 galleries and 1 freesite a day, but something a little more advanced.  With the changes that have happened over the last year (especially with tgp partner accounts) … it has become necessary to redo the last tutorial so that it’s a little more relevant.  However this one is aimed at a slightly more advanced crowd – the more advanced newbies and midbies with income for investment, some ‘know how’, and the ability to put in more than a mere 4 hours a day 6 days a week.

This is a tutorial is aimed at those who have been in the industry for 6-18 months.

This tutorial will be posted in both my netpondblog and the netpond thread. I might also post more frequent progress updates as part of my blog posts.

This tutorial will consist of :

1. 2 galleries per day (Including the purchase of partner accounts)

2. One freesite per day (no partner accounts)

3. A small amount of blogging

4. A small amount of SEO work

5. The construction of at least 2 portals

Sponsors used to start with will be :

1. Netpondcash

2. Titanbucks

3. Jaymancash

More sponsors will be added as needed, but this is enough to start with.  I make the assumption that most people in the industry for 6 months have a couple of sponsors that work well for them, so that’s why I am using two that I am used to selling, and one I have never tried selling before.

Templates and sites :

I will be using a mixture of already tested templates (maybe even one or two from the original tutorial) and new templates.  Most of the galleries will be template based, with probably 6-10 starting templates rotated around. New templates will be introduced on a per need basis to replace underperforming templates/sponsor sites.

Freesite templates will probably not be used. I always suggest that you have at least 1-2 months worth of freesites before you start reusing elements from old ones. Link lists don’t want the same thing submitted every day, and each freesite should have personality (not just a different set of colors).

All blogging, Portal and SEO site design will of course not be template based.

I will also be testing the designer water. I will be trying to use each of the pond’s designers a couple of times for gallery templates. We have some talented designers on the board, and many offer some great deals on gallery designs and other design work. Lets see if I can turn a bit of a profit using and paying for design work ;)

Helping Hands :

I am expecting this tutorial to take at least 6 hours per day.  Now I don’t have 6 hours a day, so certain tasks need to be outsourced or will be given to people to help me with.

I expect to use a gallery submitter using the chameleon database plus certain partner accounts, and will also use someone here in the office to submit my freesites using an enhanced freesitewizard database.  Picpost submits will also be done by someone here in the office on my behalf.

I expect to be doing batching and content prep myself, but if the need arises I will also use someone here to help me with that.

I have a new person in our office and he will be creating every 2nd freesite as part of his training. This will ensure we have a balance of freesite styles.

As mentioned above I will also test the water with some of netpond’s designers by getting tgp design work done.

So in short I expect this 30 day long project to take me no more than 2-3 hours per day which I can easily afford.  That being said … I will be sure to try and keep the work completed within the range of 6-7 man hours per day.

What has already been done :

These things have already been done and will not be included in the project :

- Set up of a dedicated server

- Set up and hosting of several domains

- Registration with sponsors

- Collection of raw content

- Registration of starting partner accounts

- 4 weeks worth of Milo bought

Costs and investment :

Partner accounts :

Worldsex - $100 usd per month

Tommy’s bookmarks - $50

Shemp – I have a free account but will probably upgrade if the opportunity arises since he runs a tight ship.

I will add more as needed with a total monthly budget cap of $400 for my first month.  I would welcome suggestions on which PA’s are worth getting and which aren’t.

Design :

I will allocate $100 to design work this month. I expect to get around 4-8 templates for that cost, and it really depends on which designers are willing to do design work for me to be included in this tutorial and which aren’t.

Hosting :

Dedicated Server : Pentium 4 – 512k – 80 gig hd – 5mbs … $250pm

Virtual Account : $30 pm for up to 200g and 5 ip addresses

Domains :

$100 allocated for up to 11 domains through Godaddy

Content :

I assume that you use a mixture of free sponsor content and content you have accumulated. However I am putting $100 aside for some cheap content sets so its not all oversaturated free sponsor content.

Software :

Chameleon submitter : $20 for one month, $30 for the confirmer

Freesite wizard : $30 (or $20 through Betabrigade)

An assumption has been made that you have image editing software and a html editor. I have also assumed you have a PC, an internet connection and an operating system installed and working

Background reading :

Freesites : Iggysick really wrote one of the best freesite tutorials I have seen - http://www.netpond.com/showthread.php?t=21966

Tgp : Go to the netpond newbie board or your BB platoon and do a search for tgp galleries etc. There is so much help on there I really don’t have to list tutorials for you. Also check out the netpond articles and tutorials… eg : http://www.netpond.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22

Portals : We ran a fairly successful portal project where virtually all who finished their portals enjoyed sales from them.  1st Stage of the last portal project is - http://www.netpond.com/showthread.php?t=28441 and you can do a search for the other parts and chat recordings to explore the topic some more.  Also all Alpha BB members can view something very similar in the Alternative traffic missions thread.

When :

I will be getting started with the first post containing examples etc as soon as the SE project has been tidied away and completed.  I expect to get started in 1-4 days time.

Posts and updates won’t be every day. It can take up to an hour or two to do screencaps of all stats, sales, BW usage etc. I will give running updates on my blog, but you could probably only expect comprehensive stats updates to be done 1-2 times a week.

Running along side me :

I know many people are excited at the prospect of doing this at the same time, and while many lose their ‘gusto’ a few days in, I know of at least one person who managed to complete everything when I did last tutorial and he even made $105 more than me!!!

For those who want to do this with me, I will be getting started soon. You should have domains and hosting in place, and clear up some cash. While you won’t be able to keep up with me realtime, you will be able to complete the tasks I do as you read about them. Again I will try to give more of a running commentary on my blog so as not to clutter up the netpond thread.  However please remember I will only answer questions posted on the netpond thread, so you should use both together :)

Sunday, November 6, 2005 - Designers

A strange thing with designers is how many there are, how many NEED work, and how many can actually complete work that converts.  We have tried probably 10 designers over the last 2 years, and in ALL cases the amateurish tours and galleries we have done inhouse have converted much better than the designed tours.  I put this down to niche, as most of our sites are microniched, and we know the niches.  Then again you would think that would be negated by a good design ... and it seems not.   There is an interesting thread on design worth checking out ...

Wednesday, November 2, 2005 - Biz vs Water cooler threads.

Interesting this is coming up more and more, and not just on netpond, but on many boards.  With the popularity of post whores and people who just post to get their sig seen or for money, it was obvious that boards were going to get watered down, and good information and threads would be lost amongst the 'noise'.

Netpond has always been the best of the boards, where the noise to quality ratio is much higher than the board average. But you can still help make things better.  Instead of just posting 'i agree', 'great post', 'congrats' ... try to actually add to a thread.  you should always try to add something to a thread, and really look at any posts you make that are only one line or sentence and ask yourself whether you are just posting for the sake of posting, or have you added to the thread?

Its a shame that you can ignore 10 people on netpond and 50% of the posts are gone, but no information is lost.

Wednesday, November 2, 2005 - The 30 day thread

A while ago I did a 30 day thread where i spent 4 hours a day doing tgp and freesites, posting stats, and posting examples of the sites. That thread got a lot of lurkers into the biz, and really helped a few people focus on what they should be doing to further their business.

Well now that the SE project is drawing to a close, I am probably going to do it again, but not just freesites and galleries this time.  I am more than likely going to add blogs, SE pages, and a whole array of partner accounts into the mix, and will probably use a dedicated server aswell.  While it will be a netpond thread, I will probably start a website along side it for those who just want to see the actual posts without questions and comments (the last thread grew to some 30+ pages and thats a LOT of posts :)

Saturday, October 29, 2005 - Work and employees

Why is it so damn hard to find people who can actaully work and get things done ?

The pool of people looking for work in this industry is huge, but the pool of people able to get work done in a timely fashion, not get sick or have 'family problems' constantly is small indeed.  It seems that 90% of the guys I hire i have to let go because it takes more time fixing up their mistakes, or they never really get 'around' to doing the work.

The nature of this industry is such that someone shouldn't have to be here in the office to work for me, but I am starting to think that the only reliable employee i can take on is one who actually works here and not from their home pc.

Shame .. the jobs I have a actually pretty cushy and only require a little bit of self starting. Oh well..

Wednesday, October 26, 2005 - Awesome threads and information

The last few days have been incredible for the amount of info and quality of the threads on both netpond and bb...

Betabrigade :

Some good discussion on cpc, minimum clicks and mostly adwords

VERY rare to see a new concept. Something refreshing and new, with a spin you haven't seen often gets the clicks, gets the sales. ShiftyEyedbastard created one of the most entertaining SEO sites I have seen for some time!

Netpondcash hasn't been converting for some people aswell as they would like. For some others (especially with SE traffic) it has been doing very well. I personally noticed my numbers jumping all over the place recently, and this thread is going into some experiences and details :

Netpond :

I started a thread for all participants of the BB SEO project.  This project has launched forward with gusto!  Really impressed at the early results and participants should take heed of the round 2 instructions

Pennywize or Strongbox?  My vote goes for strongbox for 2 reasons ... firstly they charge a once off fee, and secondly they have more functions and offer better protection.

Sunday, October 23, 2005 - Paysites

This actually ended up being quite a good thread, with some good views by a few people. Tat2jr, Paul Markham, Jeff, Manca, Raymor and several others posted some good opinions or info. Paul was very outspoken on the area of Content and most of what he said was pretty spot on.  However content providers tend to give too much attention to content on a paysite forgetting many other important areas.  Content is important (obviously) but is only one of 4-5 major areas that need to be given effort and attention.

Thursday, October 20, 2005 - Hypothetical ...

We got to thinking about what we would do if things came crashing down, and business died.  How hard would it be to start again, and how hard would it be to wind up a decent income again.  Could you get back on your knees in 2 weeks ???

For ideas I started a thread on it looking for ideas. i wonder how many people can think outside the box.

Wednesday, October 19, 2005 - Snif, taste, bite marketing

In the world of selling porn less will bring in more.

Let me explain ...

The less you give the surfer, the more he wants. If you give him a sniff he will want a taste, if you give him a taste he will want a bite, if you give him a bite he will want the whole damn thing.  Give him the whole thing for free .... and you won't get a sale.

The secret to selling is to learn how to sell a sniff.  Some surfers however are wary of a sniff, and want a taste just to make sure.  However some surfers now know they can get a bite for free, and can get enough bites to make up a whole meal (tgp).  Occasionally they taste something so damn good that they want the whole thing and signup, but they know they can get all the bites they want for nothing.

How do you market a sniff then ?

You let the surfer know exactly what they are sniffing, you only throw up a sniff and dont link to any bite sites (sites that give it out for free). You resist the temptation to give the surfer more to make him happy and content.  A content surfer never bought a membership .... its the surfer that just has to have some of what you are selling and can't find it elsewhere that signs up.

Think about your marketing strategy .... are you giving away too much for free?

Saturday, October 15, 2005 - Biz vs Buz

It's always interesting to see the different personalities of webmasters.

It's also interesting to see the many different things webmasters want from a messageboard or comunity site.  Those who just want to read and interact on a business level, those who want fun and games, those who want to earn money by posting on the boards, and those who have a mixture.

What always amuses me is when business minded posters get flak for posting what you could call 'business' minded threads on 'booring topics'.   While some may find it amusing to only ever talk the shit, there are those of us who only really want business related talk and information from the boards.  I wonder if you could ever have one without the other ?
